Mountain Street Pottery

Peter Jones has been a potter in Maine since 1973 and has operated Mountain Street Pottery since 1984. Working in stoneware and porcelain, he fires his work to 2300°F in a gas-fired kiln of his own design. He mixes his own stoneware clay, developed over decades for its warm brown color, durability, and excellent thermal shock resistance—making it ideal for everyday pieces such as mugs, teapots, and casseroles. All glazes are lead-free, and the pottery is oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

Each piece is thoughtfully designed with function and comfort in mind. Peter throws every form by hand on the wheel, without molds or presses, resulting in work that is consistent yet uniquely individual. His pottery is made to be used and enjoyed daily, offering lasting beauty and reliability.
