Meadowcroft Farm

Nanne Kennedy is a Guild Artist specializing in hand-spun fiber and nuanced color work inspired by moments in nature. With more than 30 years of experience as a hand-spinner, she works with superfine wool selected and handled for its specific purpose, recognizing that each fleece offers unique qualities. Her sheep are bred for exceptional softness, producing wool that is naturally non-itching, and are often blended with other locally sourced fibers for enhanced performance and longevity.

Through her Seacolors™ line, Kennedy creates one-of-a-kind yarns, sweaters, and blankets that are soft, durable, and low impact at every stage of production. All processing—from sourcing and scouring to spinning, dyeing, knitting, and weaving—takes place within a five-hour bioregional radius. Her innovative, solar-powered seawater dye system eliminates chemical salts and acids, resulting in rich, environmentally responsible color that complements fine wool fibers.

Kennedy is also the steward of Meadowcroft Farm, a regenerative grass-based farm committed to agricultural models that support both ecological health and economic viability. Raising approximately 100 fine-wool sheep, she has spent more than 25 years developing a homebred Polwarth flock through selective breeding for fine, silky fiber, fleece weight, parasite resistance, and strong feet. The flock is grass-fed year-round and maintained for apparel-grade fiber under 23 microns, verified annually through Optical Fiber Diameter Analysis.

By integrating sustainable farming, bioregional production, and fiber innovation, Nanne Kennedy’s work represents a holistic approach to textile arts—rooted in place, process, and care for the land.
