Mountain Street Pottery

80 Mountain Street
Camden, ME 04843

A Maine potter since 1973, operating as Mountain Street Pottery since 1984, Peter Jones works in stoneware and porcelain fired to 2300°F in a custom-designed gas kiln. He mixes his own stoneware clay, developed over decades for excellent workability, warm brown color, and strong thermal shock resistance—ideal for functional ware such as teapots, casseroles, and mugs. All glazes are lead-free, and the pottery is oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

Every piece is wheel-thrown by hand, with no molds or presses. Careful attention is given to function, comfort, durability, and beauty, resulting in pieces that are well matched yet individually unique and made for everyday use.

His work is sold primarily through craft shows across the Northeast and other regions, including Florida and the Washington, DC area. He also offers gallery browsing, custom dinnerware options, and direct ordering by email.
